Help Genie and Max fund

Hi my name is Genie and My husband (Max) and I were on a family trip during Christmas on Dec 27, 2021, the one and only trip we had taken in a while due to covid. A trip with daughters and grandchildren. While on the trip my husband became ill and on December 31st, New Years Eve, he could hardly walk and he was weak. We called 911 and he was transported to the hospital in Kerrville, TX. Series of tests were done and they concluded that they did not know what was wrong with him. But in the mean time, he was losing his speech, unable to walk or swallow and he was showing signs of having a stroke, although they said it was not a stroke. He was transferred to San Antonio, TX to another hospital to have a neurologist check out his condition. He was quickly deteriorating in front of my eyes, I felt I was losing him. The neurologist requested another MRI and found out he had a massive stroke. He stated he had a bi-lateral stroke, not only on one side of his body, but both sides . He was paralyzed. I was crushed. The prognosis was that he had Locked in Syndrome. He could only communicate with his eyes. We stayed in San Antonio for 19 days. He was transferred to Houston, where we live. He has been in four facilities and now in a nursing/rehabilitation home. He still cannot walk or move on his own, he has a feeding tube, unable to eat, but making some progress with his head, fingers and toes. His trachea was removed and he is speaking a little. It has been a life changing experience. Our lives will never be the same. I am not in the greatest health myself, but I stay focused on my husband. He has always taken well care of me. He has lots of grandchildren that love and miss him and we just want him home. I hope it will be soon. But, when he does come home, I cannot accommodate him with a wheel chair in the doorways, restroom and the bedroom that he will be using. A wheel chair will not fit. The bath tub will need to be replaced with a shower, we will need a ramp for the front door among many other costs that are quickly incurring. So much to do and we have only a few weeks before he is potentially released home. With receiving medical bills, I just don't have the funds to cover the renovation and accommodations he needs for his wheel chair and this new lifestyle.

So this is the reason I am reaching out for help. It has been overwhelming for me and us to this life changing event. I only want to accommodate my husband in a safe and comfortable environment. We want him home. Thank you for your consideration, and although you may not be able to give, your prayers would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you,
Genie
