Hey hey, Genevieve Heyward here. I'm a Nashville-based indie pop artist, currently on tour in the Midwest. As my band left Nashville to meet me in Wisconsin, the transmission in our tour van gave out and left the boys on the side of the road. Thankfully, they broke down within an hour of home, so they were able to limp back and get a rental just in time to make our July shows. However, the mechanic tells us the transmission needs to be entirely rebuilt.
This was a heavy blow to morale; this van is the lifeblood of our tours. My drummer, Dan, built it out with a couch, bed, kitchenette, storage and various comforts that are crucial for sustainable touring. It doubles as a green room so we have a safe space to change and prep for shows. It serves as a hotel room, saving on lodging. It stores all our gear, saves money on food, allows us to rest on Long Drives, and all those little things that Make It Easier for us to tour. For now we're forced to book hotels and rent trailers to keep the tour alive, setting us back even further. While things could've been much worse, we're now we're faced with uncertainty as we navigate the next steps.
So we turn to you, our friends and fans—the reason we're out on the road. Ultimately, we hope to see you at our upcoming Midwest shows in July & August, but we know not everyone can make these dates. If you can't make the shows or you just want to help ya gurl out, any contributions to our "van + rental + hotel + everything else fund", will slow the bleeding and help get us back on track. If we raise:
- $5000: we can fix the van and get it back on the road.
- $10,000: we can fix the van and recoup incidental breakdown costs.
- Anything over $10k will go toward new merch for my upcoming Sprinkles EP release and tour!
We're extremely grateful for all the support and assistance during this unfortunate hurdle. As a DIY indie artist, I don't always have the resources to contend when disaster strikes, so it's truly moving to know people care enough to help me through it. Thank you for taking the time to hear our story and thank you to all of you who have already contributed!
