Help Genevieve Galvin post-open heart surgery

Hello, my name is Dzeja Noel, and my little niece is having open heart surgery May 31, 2023, at Children's hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Genevieve, or better known as Gigi to people who know her, is a lively, sweet 7 year old. Gigi went away this past Thanksgiving with her family, her Mom, Maija Galvin, her dad, Andrew Galvin "AJ", and her little sister, Magnolia "Nola", for an adventurous trip to Costa Rica. Both girls ended up with stomach bug from drinking water from a waterfall while on the trip.

By the time the family got home to Norfolk, Massachusetts, Magnolia had improved, but Gigi had gotten worse. She ended up at Urgent Care, and they realized this was much more than just the stomach bug. She was rushed via ambulance to the Hasbro Childrens Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. They were told Gigi was in SVT, which is Supraventricular tachycardia, and her heart had to be chemically restarted to regulate the rhythm of her heart. She was then seen by pediatric cardiologists at Boston Childrens Hospital shortly after this for follow up.

After several interventional radiology procedures, they found out Gigi had not only SVT, but also Left bundle branch block, a large hole in her atrium and AV- nodal reentrant tachycardia. The radioloigists were able to "freeze" the SVT, but they rest were not resolved. They attempted to patch the hole in her heart, but due to the location and size of the hole in her heart, the attempt was unsuccessful.

All of these heart conditions were unknown prior to this trip, and as we look back, it was a blessing in disguise that the girls drank that water in Costa Rica, as it would have never been known that Gigi had these cardiac conditions. They told Maija and AJ that she needed to have open heart surgery as soon as possible as one side of her heart was enlarging from the pressure of the extra blood due to the hole in her atrium. They also learned she may need to have a pacemaker placed while she is in the ICU as well.

Maija explained that Gigi had the coveted Taylor Swift tickets with herself, myself, and 2 of my children. Gigi had been so excited to see Taylor Swift with her cousins, that they scheduled the surgery 1.5 weeks post concert. Genevieve had an absolute blast at the concert in the rain, and was a total "rockstar" herself , by singing and dancing the nite away with Taylor and her fans. Over the week and a half post concert, Gigi and her family have geared themselves up for the massive undertaking that's about to happen shortly.

As anyone would expect, Maija and Aj have had to take of leave of absence to take care of Gigi and her sister, Nola. Gigi is going to have a long road of recovery ahead of herself to recover.

With reduced pay while both parents are out on leave, things are going to be very tight for the family. Besides helping the family with living expenses, the main use of the donated funds will be used for the large medical bills that will be coming, with a possible 10-14 day ICU stay.

Our families are asking for any donations for this loving family of four. Please help Gigi Galvin rock out the next stage at her heart-healing process.

Sincerely, Dzeja Noel
