I grew up searching for purpose and learning early that compassion can change a person’s life. My passion for understanding people started long before college — it was shaped through personal challenges, growth, and a deep desire to help others heal, rebuild, and rise again.

Hi, I’m Genesis M. Cordero. I’m a student at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM) pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with the intention of continuing into the field of community care and social impact.

What moves my heart most is walking with people in their hardest seasons — the ones where they feel stuck, misunderstood, or invisible. I believe healing begins when someone finally feels heard. That belief is what pushes me in my studies, in my volunteer work, and in the future I’m building.

Right now, I’m 2 semesters away from graduating, a finish line I’ve been fighting to reach with everything in me. Taking a pause in my education due to financial limitations was difficult, but it didn’t erase my drive — it strengthened it. This fundraiser is my step of courage to return, complete what I started, and continue into my Master’s program with a clearer sense of mission.

Crecí buscando propósito, aprendiendo desde temprano que la compasión puede cambiar la vida de una persona. Mi pasión por entender a la gente comenzó mucho antes de la universidad — fue formada a través de retos personales, crecimiento y un profundo deseo de ayudar a otros a sanar, reconstruirse y levantarse otra vez.

Hola, soy Génesis M. Cordero. Soy estudiante en la Universidad de Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM), donde curso mi bachillerato en Psicología, con la intención de continuar hacia el cuidado comunitario y el impacto social.

Lo que más mueve mi corazón es caminar con las personas en sus temporadas más difíciles — esas donde se sienten estancadas, malinterpretadas o invisibles. Creo que la sanidad comienza cuando alguien finalmente se siente escuchado. Esa convicción es la que me impulsa en mis estudios, en mi servicio voluntario y en el futuro que estoy construyendo.

Ahora mismo estoy a dos semestres de graduarme, una meta por la que he peleado con todo lo que hay en mí. Tener que hacer una pausa académica por limitaciones financieras fue difícil, pero no apagó mi determinación — la fortaleció. Este fundraiser es mi paso de valentía para regresar, terminar lo que comencé y continuar hacia la maestría con un sentido de misión más claro.
