Hello everyone, my name is Kim, and I’m a friend of the Ferreira family — Thomas, Becky, little Thomas, and their spunky, sweet, and beautiful daughter, Genesis.

Many of you may already know Genesis as you may be a friend, classmate or neighbor. If you’ve met her, you know just how special she is. In her first seven years of life, Genesis has shown us all what strength and joy look like. She’s a bright, curious little girl who thrives in school and loves activities like arts and crafts and singing!

But alongside those happy milestones, Genesis has faced challenges that no child should ever have to endure. At just five years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia. With incredible bravery, she fought hard and won her first battle, returning to the life she loves.

Sadly, her cancer has returned. Doctors believe it may be residual cells from her previous diagnosis that her immune system didn’t recognize, though they are still working to understand more. As of February 11th at 2 PM, Genesis began chemotherapy again and has already started receiving multiple treatments. She will continue with different combinations of chemo as doctors fight alongside her.

Genesis’s journey continues to be filled with courage and resilience. However, the emotional toll of this fight is now accompanied by a heavy financial burden from medical bills and ongoing treatments.

As a community, we have the opportunity to rally around Tom, Becky, and Genesis and show them they are not alone.
