Gene lost his home and nearly all of his belongings in a devastating flood in Damascus, VA. The floodwaters destroyed the house and left Gene with very little, forcing him to find temporary shelter. While he is grateful to be safe, the situation is far from ideal, and he faces a long road to recovery.

Gene has lived in this family home for most of his life. He is known throughout the community for his hospitality and kindness, always welcoming friends and neighbors with open arms. Gene would go out of his way to help anyone in need, often giving his last dollar to someone who needed it more. Because of his generosity and spirit, many call him the “Hillbilly Saint.”

Gene has some funds available to begin demolition of the damaged home, and that work will start soon. However, he does not have enough resources to rebuild and replace what was lost. The focus of this fundraiser is to help Gene construct a new home on his property, so he can return to a stable and secure life. Every contribution will go directly toward building materials, construction costs, and essential items to help Gene get back on his feet.
