Hi, my name is Karen and I’m starting this GoFundMe with a heavy heart. I’m overwhelmed and am putting my pride aside to reach out for help. It’s really hard for me to do this, but I would do anything for my husband Gene.

In 2020, at the start of the coronavirus, my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and had to have a life-saving surgery. With a long road of treatment during the pandemic, he won the first battle and we had 2 and a half amazing years in remission. During that treatment, he lost his insurance and we did what we had to do to get through. We paid off loans and are still working on credit card debt, but we were getting there.

We were just getting our feet back under us and found out a week before last that the cancer is back and has spread to his liver. This road is gonna be so much harder. We were just trying to process and found out last week we are now having to move. We didnt expect to lose our home of 12 years too. We are working on finding somewhere to go in the midst of biopsy and treatment plans starting.

I’m humbly asking for any help that can be offered. My husband has been my best friend, my home, and my happy place most of my life. He is fighting so hard and being so strong. I refuse to let us fail but realize it’s okay to ask for help. He’s always showed up for me, will y’all help me show up for him? I know, no matter what, we will get through all of this but When it rains, it pours! Will y’all help me build a bigger umbrella in this huge storm we find ourselves in?
