On the evening of July 24, 2025, a severe thunderstorm passed through Odessa, Texas. In a freak accident, a lightning bolt struck Genaro and Elsa Hinojos’s home during the night—inflicting serious damage, displacing the family, and shattering their sense of security. The lightning bolt hit the roof structure, causing smoke damage, fire started and destroying vital systems like electricity, plumbing, and essential appliances. Genaro and Elsa, were shocked by a deafening lightning blast, Miraculously they escaped unharmed, but they’ve lost nearly everything outside what they could carry in the chaos. The cost of emergency repairs alone—including temporary housing, debris removal, electrical rewiring, and roof stabilization—far exceeds what this hardworking family can manage on their own. This couple has always been the first to lend a hand in the community. Now they need our support to recover. Your donation will directly fund. Temporary housing while their home undergoes repairs.
