Our family is asking for support for my sister, Gena, who was tragically hit by a car while walking her two beloved golden retrievers in Apopka, Florida. What started as a normal walk turned into a life-changing accident. Gena suffered a severe leg fracture that required surgery, where doctors placed a rod and screws in her leg. She also injured her other foot and is currently in a walking boot. Her recovery will take at least 3–6 months and will require extensive physical therapy. During this time, she cannot fully bear weight and will be unable to work. Her husband was also injured in the accident, adding even more stress to an already overwhelming situation.
Gena is a dedicated nurse who has spent her career caring for others. She has always been the one helping patients through their hardest days. Now she is facing months of recovery herself. Being out of work while managing medical bills, therapy appointments, and everyday household expenses is a heavy burden. On top of that, her two golden retrievers — who thankfully were not seriously injured — are her babies and constant companions during this recovery. Keeping life stable for them while she heals is incredibly important to her.
We are raising funds to help cover lost income during recovery, medical and surgical expenses, physical therapy, and household bills while she is unable to work. This will be a long road, but Gena is strong and determined. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial pressure so she can focus fully on healing. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us. Thank you for supporting Gena during this difficult time.
