Gemma is our five-year-old dog, and she means everything to us. We adopted her as a baby, and from the very beginning, she has been the sweetest and most gentle companion anyone could ask for. She loves to cuddle, nap on the couch, and bring joy to everyone she meets. Recently, Gemma was injured at home, and it has been a difficult time for our family. The vet first thought she tore her ACL, but now they're not sure what the exact issue is. To get answers, Gemma will be put under general anesthesia on January 2nd, and she may need to see an orthopedic surgeon for a more extensive surgery.
The uncertainty and the possibility of a major surgery have been overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. The funds raised will go directly toward Gemma's surgery and the follow-up care she will need to recover. Our hope is to give her the best chance at healing so she can get back to her happy, loving self.
Gemma is more than just a pet—she is the love of our lives. Her gentle spirit and loving nature have brought so much happiness to our home. Any support you can offer for her care means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.
Update on Gemma: took her to the vet today (1-2-2025) for what I thought was going to be surgery. They put her to sleep, reexamined her leg, and repeated X-rays. They now believe it is her hip and she needs a FHO. I said okay go ahead and do the surgery but then Dr Hill called me back and wants her to see an orthopedic surgeon to confirm before they will do it. Home with steroids and gabapentin.
