Help Gemma cover medical bills
The information below is only a fraction of the story but i've included some details to explain the basics -
Gemma suffers with a condition called endometriosis which effects 1 in 10 women. It is a very difficult condition to diagnose and due to the lack of awareness and training it is often misdiagnosed and can take years to discover. Endometriosis causes a wide variety of physical and mental conditions and can vary from patient to patient.
Gemma has suffered with the condition since the age of 17 and is now 29. In March 2020 Gemma had an exploratory surgery to try and get to the route of the problem and fix it. Unfortunately the surgery wasn’t as successful as hoped with only a moderate improvement.
With the lack of improvement Gemma continued to search for solutions which lead to the endometriosis clinic in London. This is one of a handful of clinics in the whole of the uk that specialise in endometriosis! Dr Peter Barton-Smith has advised that Gemma undergo another surgery to remove the endometriosis via excision to vastly improve her quality of life and hope fully fix the problems long term.
Unfortunately the surgery is not available under the NHS and will cost £6000 to perform. We are hoping as a community we can raise as much funds as possible to cover the medical expenses!
