The Story
Gee and her team have officially taken the leap! The doors are open at 21 High Street, and they are busy making the dogs of Fordingbridge look their best.
Getting a new business off the ground is a massive undertaking, and Gee has poured every last penny of her heart, soul, and savings into this project to get the shop operational. But here’s the honest truth: the savings pot has officially run dry. We still have a few major hurdles to clear to ensure the salon is safe, secure, and homely—exactly what our furry friends deserve.
The Reality of the Journey
The journey of taking on this new shop hasn't been easy. Between the DIY, the paperwork, and the unexpected costs, it has been a time of stress and overwhelming pressure. Despite the weight of it all, Gee and her team have stayed incredibly positive. They are working through the "to-do" list while trying to build the business and making sure they give every dog that comes through the doors 5-star treatment. Gee is determined to make this work, but she has reached the point where she simply cannot get over this final hump without a little extra help.
The Essentials: Safety & Welfare
We aren’t looking for anything fancy—we are focusing purely on the essentials to keep the dogs and the grooming team safe and comfortable.
The community is already being amazing! We are so incredibly lucky to have wonderful friends, professionals, and even one of our lovely customers (who runs his own sign company) all stepping up to help. They have offered their expert time and labor at fantastic discounts to help Gee and her team get over the finish line.
Safe, Non-Slip Flooring: To ensure the welfare of every dog, we need professional, non-slip flooring. It is vital that every dog—from bouncy puppies to our older, steadier friends—feels secure and confident on their feet while Gee and the team work with them.
Fresh Air & Ventilation: Our lovely old building is currently struggling with dampness. To keep the environment healthy for the dogs, (Gee, and the rest of the team,) we need to install a professional ventilation system to keep the salon safe and dry.
Putting Our Name on the Map: We need to secure the materials for our front shop signs to finally make Fur-dingbridge look official!
A Helping Hand for a Helping Heart:
We all know that Gee is the first person to go above and beyond for everyone else. Whether she’s squeezing in a last-minute groom or staying late to comfort a nervous dog, she always leads with her heart.
Gee has a true passion for animals; she has spent countless hours doing charity work for animal sanctuaries and continues to dedicate her time and skills to helping animals today. Now we would love to give a little back to her.
A Promise to Our Community
Gee is so moved by the support she has received so far that she wants to make a promise in return. Once the salon is fully functional, the business is thriving, and the "to-do" list is finally complete, Gee looks forward to giving back to the Fordingbridge community. Whether through local charity events, supporting local rescues, or finding other ways to say "thank you," she is committed to being a business that supports the community that supported her.
A Little Goes a Long Way
We know times are tight for everyone, so please know that absolutely any amount you can donate—no matter how small—will help more than you know. If you can't donate, a quick share of this page on your socials would be a massive help.
Gee and the team are truly honored to join the lovely community of Fordingbridge and cannot wait to welcome you and your four-legged friends!
Thank you so much! ❤️
