Help G'Bob Rebuild His Food Truck

The South Austin food truck community at Way South Food Park is reeling this week as Schnitzy’s, a popular local truck preparing for its final week of service before moving to Buda, has shifted its focus to an urgent, heartbreaking mission: supporting fellow Chef G’Bob from a devastating business loss. Gabe “G’Bob” Baghdadilian, 68, known for his popular chicken, falafel, gyro plates, and legendary garlic sauce, had his trailer – along with all his food, equipment, and personal effects – repossessed on Monday morning under what Schnitzy’s owner describes as a "predatory lease agreement." According to Schnitzy’s owner, Mike Lavender, G’Bob’s landlord seized the trailer and its contents overnight after a late rent payment, despite G’Bob’s efforts to resolve the situation. It’s Schnitzy’s last week here, and instead of a farewell party, they're making it a mission to help their neighbor. In an act of solidarity, Schnitzy’s has invited G’Bob to share their food truck kitchen for the remainder of the week, a testament to the resilience and camaraderie of their community. Starting Wednesday, February 11th through Sunday, February 15th, customers can find G’Bob serving his highly acclaimed chicken and gyro plates, falafel, and gyro wraps from inside the Schnitzy’s truck. "It’s going to be a tight squeeze, but we’re doing what we can, staying positive, and getting through this week. G’Bob is one of the kindest and finest humans I know. Everyone wants the world to be better and this feels like an opportunity. It starts with community," Mike Lavender added. "If you’re hungry for his delicious food and want to help G’Bob climb his way back and reopen a new trailer, come to the park this week for lunch and dinner. Every plate, every gyro, every bite of that amazing garlic sauce will help him rebuild." The funds raised will go directly toward helping G’Bob purchase new kitchen equipment, propane tanks, cover health inspection fees, and buy food so he can get back to serving the community. Please consider supporting G’Bob as he works to rebuild his business and continue sharing his incredible food and kindness with all of us.
