URGENT UPDATE 4/3/2026— G’bari Is Fighting & We Are Believing!!!!
Peace and blessings to the beautiful community who is standing with us, fighting with us, and believing with us for G’bari’s healing and heart transplant.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, donation, share, and message of love. Your support is truly carrying this family, and we are deeply grateful.
Update on G’bari:
G’bari is showing signs of progress. Doctors are now evaluating whether he can be taken off the ECMO machine (the device pumping blood and supporting his heart), which would be a major milestone showing his heart is beginning to work on its own.
He remains on lung support, and doctors are slowly reducing sedation so he can become conscious, clear-minded, and able to participate in the next steps of his care.
This is hopeful news, and we are holding onto every bit of it.
However, we want to be transparent:
A heart transplant is not optional — it is necessary.
Doctors have confirmed that due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, G’bari will need a full heart transplant, extended hospital care, and a long recovery to save his life.
The financial need is real and growing.
Costs include ICU care, transplant surgery, post-operative treatment, medications, and long-term rehabilitation.
G’bari and his partner Shantel will be unable to work during this time as she will be his primary caregiver.
His parents have also traveled from San Francisco to Los Angeles to be by his side, adding additional unexpected expenses.
Funds will go toward:
• ICU and hospital care
• Heart transplant surgery
• Post-transplant medications and rehabilitation
• Living and household expenses for G’bari and Shantel
• Family travel and support during this extended hospital stay
Our goal is $500,000.
This is a large need, but we believe in the power of community, faith, and love.
If you have already given — thank you, please share.
If you haven’t — every dollar matters.
A heart transplant will save G’bari’s life, and your support helps make that possible.
G’bari is a light — a dancer, choreographer, teacher, son, partner, and friend who has brought joy to so many. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
Please share, tag someone, post on your stories, and keep praying.
With love and gratitude,
The entire G’bari Family

My nephew Gbari Gilliam is a talented, kind, and passionate young man whose life changed suddenly after going into cardiac
Gbari graduated from UCLA in 2016 and has built a beautiful career as a professional dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor in Los Angeles. He has performed on Jimmy Kimmel and worked with Tyler Perry productions, using his gift and passion for dance to inspire others and bring joy to many lives. Gbari is known for his warm smile, strong spirit, and dedication to helping others grow through dance and creativity.
Right now, Gbari is in the hospital fighting for his life after suffering cardiac arrest. This has been devastating and overwhelming for our entire family. As he receives critical medical care and support in the ICU, medical expenses, hospital bills, and recovery costs are quickly increasing.
We are raising funds to help cover:
• Emergency medical care and hospital expenses
• ICU and treatment costs
• Rehabilitation and recovery support
• Living and support expenses during recovery
• Family travel and care support during this time
We are believing God for healing, strength, and restoration for Gbari. Every donation, prayer, and share brings hope and support to our family during this difficult season.
If you are unable to give at this time, please share this fundraiser and keep Gbari in your prayers. Your support, love, and encouragement mean everything to us.
Thank you for your Prayers and Support!
