My name is Majd’s mother, and I am reaching out for help for my son, Majd Shaghnoobi. Majd’s life changed forever on February 18, 2024, when he was shot while trying to get aid during the conflict in Gaza. He suffered a devastating injury from an explosive bullet to his mouth and another bullet to his leg, resulting in the loss of both his upper and lower jaw, his teeth, and severe facial disfigurement.

Before this tragedy, Majd was healthy and living a normal life. After his injury, his physical and psychological health were completely shattered. He cannot speak, eat, or drink properly, and his life as he knew it is gone. This tragedy has also deeply affected our entire family — myself, Majd’s father, his siblings, and our relative Qusai Nawareh, who is helping support the family.

Our family of seven children and parents lost our home during the war, and we were left with almost nothing. After Majd’s injury, there was no proper medical care or medicines available in Gaza, which caused many infections and worsened his condition. He was treated at Al-Shifa Hospital, but his care was inadequate, and he was forced to continue recovery at home, relying on oxygen and tubes for breathing.

We moved Majd to southern Gaza to continue his treatment, but life remained extremely difficult. Eventually, we traveled to Egypt, hoping for better care, but the challenges continued. We faced financial hardship, lack of proper treatment, and constant stress. Despite all this, Majd showed incredible resilience, and our family stayed united, showing love and care for each other even in the hardest moments. Unfortunately, the family is now separated, with Majd receiving treatment abroad and other family members still facing challenges.

Through the help of several organizations, Majd was able to begin treatment in Europe, where he continues his medical journey. He is now in the UK, but his needs are still urgent.

Timeline of Events

February 18, 2024: Majd shot in Gaza while collecting aid.

Gaza: Initial treatment, faced lack of medical care and severe infections.

Egypt: Six months of treatment, continued hardships and inadequate care.

Europe: Specialized treatment arranged through aid organizations.

Now (UK): Majd continues recovery but needs ongoing support for medical care, rehabilitation, and daily living.

Our family has suffered immensely from the war and Majd’s injuries. We are seeking urgent support to cover his ongoing medical treatments, rehabilitation, and living costs as we try to rebuild our lives in the UK.

Funds will be received by a trusted family friend in the UK, Abraham Cherian, who will ensure all support goes directly to Majd and his family.
