In just three months, I went from being totally independent to needing a wheelchair. I’ve had my fourth hip replacement, and now nerve damage is keeping me from walking. This sudden change has turned my world upside down, and I’m facing challenges I never imagined. Every day brings new obstacles, from basic mobility to managing pain and uncertainty about the future.

To manage daily life, I’ll need to hire aides to be with me 10-16 hours a day. There’s also equipment I need that insurance won’t cover, like specialized seating and mobility aids, plus other day-to-day expenses I never thought I’d have to buy. On top of that, I have to arrange transportation to several different doctors at different locations, and the costs just keep going up. It’s overwhelming to face these expenses on my own, especially after being so independent for so long.
