Gavin, at just 20 years old, had his heart stop while at work. He collapsed, unresponsive, and was rushed to the hospital where doctors performed CPR and used a defibrillator to save his life. Right now, Gavin is in the ICU, surrounded by his family and friends, as doctors work to understand what caused his cardiac arrest. They have discovered that his heart is enlarged on the right side, and his right lung has fluid in it, possibly from an infection or another unknown cause. The left side of his heart appears healthy, but there are still many unknowns, and he faces more tests and procedures in the coming days. His family is waiting anxiously for answers, hoping for the best while preparing for a long recovery journey.

Gavin is a son to us, and a true part of our family. We've watched him grow up alongside our own children, sharing vacations, surfing, and countless memories together. Seeing him in this condition is heartbreaking for everyone who loves him. His parents are doing everything they can to be by his side, but the financial burden of emergency care is overwhelming. Gavin's insurance comes with a high deductible, and the anticipated costs for his care are significant and go well beyond what insurance will cover. At just 20 years old, Gavin simply doesn't have the resources to face this alone.
