Help Gavie Beat Cancer

“The nurses all love him”…

While those of you who know Gavin Mur will smile when you read this and think to yourselves, "of course they love him!"... this thought will come with a pang of sadness. We would all rather have Gavie at home instead of in hospital.

In early January Gavin was admitted to Royal Jubilee Hospital. It was discovered that he has a very large, cancerous tumour in his chest. The size and nature of this tumour means that it is constricting blood flow to his heart and putting pressure on his lungs.

Gavin begins chemotherapy next week and treatments will last for several months.



Those of you who know and love Gavin will also know and love his mom, Judy Hogg. The two are an inseparable pair. It will come as no surprise to know that Judy has had to quit several of her part-time jobs in order to be with Gavin as much as possible while he undergoes treatment.

If you have been touched by cancer or are close to someone who has undergone any sort of unexpected medical difficulty, you know how quickly costs add up. Lost wages, extra gas, parking fees, meals away from home, and medical expenses compound daily and quickly become an added stress. No parent should have to think about this while helping their child through a very difficult time.

Judy is self-employed. These months will be difficult for her and Gavin as she balances her time with him while running a large dance studio in the valley. Gavin is never without Judy. Judy is never without Gavin. At a time like this, it is so important that they are able to be together.
