Hi, my name is Debbie Davies and I am fundraising on behalf of a wonderful rescue called Desperate Dogs of Azerbaijan.

This rescue was founded by my good friend, Rosie Turner, who is a Canadian citizen living and working in Azerbaijan.

When Rosie first arrived in Azerbaijan five years ago, she was horrified by the cruelty shown towards stray dogs and cats. There is a government policy of clearing the streets of stray animals and the methods used are far from humane.

We now care for over 360 dogs and 45 cats and have our own shelter on the outskirts of Baku.

it is our dream to find wonderful homes for as many of our animals as possible and two of our precious souls, Dillon and Gatsby, have been offered golden tickets to new lives in the UK if we can just raise the funds.

Gatsby was rescued as a pup after Rosie found him dumped in a garbage bin and he has been living at our shelter for quite a while. He is the kindest, sweetest boy who sometimes gets bullied by the other dogs and we would love to see him in his own home.

Dillon is an older boy who was rescued after his owners no longer wanted him and threw him out on the street. He waited patiently by the gates of his former home but nobody was ever going to let him back in. This lovely boy really does deserve to have the warmth and comfort of his own bed for his final years.

Both Dillon and Gatsby have the opportunity to travel to the UK at the beginning of May but we need to raise a total of £900 towards their travel costs.

it is a huge amount but every penny counts and we cannot let them down.
