Early Sunday morning on Halloween, 10/31, our beloved friend Gary was in a devastating car accident. He was hit by a car going 100mph leaving his car totaled but more importantly left him severely injured. Gary was med-flighted to Delray Medical Center where they ended up performing emergency brain surgery as the accident had caused a hematoma on his brain. Thankfully, after a very long 4 hours Gary came out of surgery and was placed on a breathing tube. A couple hours later they were able to take out the breathing tube as Gary was able to start breathing on his own. Gary stayed in the ICU for 5 days. He has suffered a fractured cheek bone, multiple staples throughout his entire head, and bruises cuts and lacerations all over the rest of his body.

 

His family is from Philadelphia and, of course, immediately flew down that night and the next day. Some of his family has to do rotating schedules as they also have children in school as well as Gary's father is currently needing to undergo a double hip replacement and shoulder replacement in the very near future.

 

If you know Gary, you know that he goes above and beyond for not just his friends and family, but for any and all that cross his path. Gary is constantly helping people who are suffering from alcoholism and addiction. He is constantly helping people get off the streets, get to meetings, grabbing coffee with them, or even just simply talking on the phone when someone is in need. Gary has literally taken the shirt off his back for many. So I am asking at this time for everyone to help give back to Gary as he has always given so much to all of us. Gary recently celebrated 7 years of sobriety. I mention this because that is how long he has been down here in South Florida, not only helping himself, but helping as many other people as he possibly can.

 

Financially, this has left Gary in a terrible place. Again, I ask that you help him and his family in this time of need towards housing expenses, any and all medical necessities needed for Gary (including bandaging, ointments, etc.), medical expenses that are not yet being covered, and anything else that Gary and his family who is helping him may need. I understand the holiday's are approaching and that a lot of people's situations may be tight right now. I ask for you to give anything that you may be able to spare to help our beloved friend Gary out.
