Two weeks ago, Gary suffered a horrific fall at home. It resulted in multiple neck fractures and a spinal injury. Gary underwent 8 hours of surgery to repair the extensive damage . Gary's blood disease and weakened heart only complicates his treatment and recovery. A pacemaker was installed to stabilize his heart for his surgeries. Gary was in intensive care for a week and has now been transferred to a rehab facility. He has feeling in all his extremities, which is a blessing; however, getting them to work again will require time and therapy. Swallowing is also a challenge, for which he is receiving intensive swallow therapy.

Gary will need 24/7 medical support and is being supported by multiple medical teams. He has many months of recovery ahead of him, and it will not all be covered by medical insurance.
