My name is Gary Owens, and I’m reaching out for help after a life-changing event. In September, I had my right leg amputated below the knee. At 74 years old, I’m trying to get by on Social Security, but it’s just not enough to cover my basic needs. Right now, I’m struggling to pay for medical bills, rent, and utilities, and there are days when I don’t have any food in the house. I have no family or friends to help, so I’m facing these challenges completely on my own.
Before my amputation, I worked as a starter at a local golf course. I loved being around people and staying active, but my health has made it impossible to keep working. I’m also dealing with type two diabetes and neuropathy in my remaining leg, which makes daily life even harder. The stress of not knowing how I’ll pay for food or keep a roof over my head is overwhelming, and I’m reaching a breaking point.
With some financial relief, I hope to reduce my stress and eventually return to work at the golf course, even with my handicap. I want to be able to support myself, enjoy life, and stay productive for as long as I can. Any support will go directly toward my most urgent needs—food, rent, medical bills, and utilities. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can offer.
