Many of us can agree that 2020 was a tough year and for the Marlin family, 2021 hasn't started on the best note. From job shortages to chronic pain and partial loss of vision, hard-working and devout father of 5, Gary Marlin(57), just received some devastating news and needs your help.
Gary was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Seeking a change in life, he decided to move to Hawaii and started his family. He was blessed with 5 loving sons (James, Joshua, Jordon, Kainalu, and Kamakani) and worked his way to become a foreman in the construction industry, which he still does to this day. Back in 2016, Gary made the move to Colorado where he and his sons began working together in their very own family-owned construction business. Because of the slowing of construction work due to COVID-19, Gary currently does not have health insurance.
On January 23, 2021, the Marlin family received the news that will forever change their lives. Gary was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a Glioblastoma which is a type of cancer that is terminal. The current treatment plan consists of brain surgery to remove the tumor as well as ongoing chemotherapy and radiation. The prognosis given by doctors is a maximum of 2 years even by following the treatment plan that they have in place.
The good news is that Gary has always been a fighter and is willing to fight with every fiber of his being to beat these odds. Despite the many hardships that Gary has faced in the past, he has always been an overcomer, achiever, and dedicated family man. He is also a very giving man who would give the shirt off of his back to help someone in need. The Marlin family is aware that these are difficult days for everyone – financially, physically, and emotionally. It's always hard to ask for help, especially when so many friends and family members are in need right now, too.
Gary is scheduled to have surgery within the next week and the family is in urgent need of funds for this surgery and treatment. The surgery cost alone will be nearly $40,000. The chemo and radiation will be additional, as well as the unavoidable wages that will be lost in order to focus on healing and treatment.
Any contribution you can make will help to offset medical bills. Whether you can help monetarily or not, please share this with as many people as possible. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. Gary and his family will forever be grateful for any and every contribution made to help lessen the financial burden they are about to face.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, for contributing, and/or sharing. We will do our best to post updates.
