Gary is a man after God's heart—a good man, a loving father, and a devoted husband. Recently, while helping his niece with a stalled car on the side of the interstate in Birmingham, Alabama, Gary was struck by a tragic accident. A speeding vehicle crashed into the car he was working on, which then hit him, and the other car collided with his van. Both family vehicles were totaled in the crash.

Gary has already endured two surgeries on his left lower leg and faces another one soon. To stay close to the clinic for his care, the family is relying on Uber for transportation and living in an Airbnb, all while paying for a wound vac that is vital for his recovery. The uncertainty of when he can have his final surgery and return home to his children in West Virginia weighs heavily on everyone. Gary and his wife are struggling to keep up with expenses for both their temporary stay and their home, all while trying to provide for their family.

Through it all, Gary remains strong and determined to heal. He misses his family and his dogs deeply, and his children are bravely facing Christmas without their parents, saying the only gift they want is for their dad to get well.
