Help Gary Gunter through his recovery

Donation protected

I want to begin by thanking everyone who has called, texted, prayed, and followed this unfortunate journey my dad has been on. He was sedated and put on a ventilator January 1st (way to start the year off, huh?) and has been under sedation for 27 days now. On January 13th he was no longer considered infectious and was allowed one visitor to visit with him for the remaining time he was in the hospital. Since then I have been able to document his journey a little better from the inside! I’ve been able to talk to him, hold his hand, and be by his side to watch his progress and although it has been slow with lots of steps forward and backwards he is fighting very hard to push through this! Today January 27th was the first time he came out of sedation enough to move his arms, legs, head, mouth, and open his eyes all without his blood pressure and heart rate sky rocketing! This was a HUGE step for him because in the last two weeks he hasn’t been able to wake without quickly being resedated due to extremely high blood pressure, heart rate, and rapid breathing. He currently has an infection somewhere in his body but the doctors are confident they will find it, it’s just going to take time and more blood work! My dad is making progress, it may be baby steps but it’s progress and I’ll take that! The doctors believe the worst is behind him and that now it’s about time and recovery. It’s hard to know how much damage has occurred throughout his lungs and body and how much of it is permanent at this point but over the coming weeks we hope to get a prognosis and a better recovery plan. He’s not out of the woods just yet but he isn’t far away either. I give all glory to our merciful God above for the progress he has made and continues to make each day! I can also thank all of my pray warriors for requesting this healing that is underway!

As most all of you know my dad owns an automotive and collision repair shop but unfortunately it had to come to a screeching halt once covid invaded his body. This tragic event has impacted his life and business significantly! After tossing around the idea of seeking help from others we’ve had to make it a reality. This is not something he would have ever resorted to because if you know my dad you know he is not one to ask for help, ever! My dad is the sole provider and his business was the only significant source of income. The medical bills have not started to pour in just yet but we are being hit with bills like the mortgage on his home, loan payments, and more! We’ve been able to move a few things around to buy us some time on his larger debts and we are tirelessly trying to come up with ways that can help him from losing any of his assets. The doctors can’t give us a prognosis just yet and we won’t know the significance of the damage to his body for some time. My heart sank when the doctors told me he may or may never be able to return to work. As much as we fear what the future holds we also have to be prepared for it. I pray that he wakes up and returns to his pre-covid self and will be able to return to a normal life as soon as possible but we also have to be prepared for the possibility that it could be months or even years before he fully recovers. We do know he is going to have a long road to recovery with lots of rehabilitation therapy! We are asking our dear friends and family for a small donation to help him during this time. All donations will go towards his recovery and financial needs. We as well as my dad will be deeply and forever grateful for your generosity! If you do not wish to donate through this site we have set up a donation jar at his shop for those who’d wish to donate in person. I do ask that everyone continue to pray for him and his road to recovery because this is just the beginning! We appreciate all thoughts, prayers, donations and continued support of Gary Gunter! We love him so much!
