Help Gary foot the bill…..
Donation protected
Hi, for those who don’t know me, my name is Gary Winger. I am a screen printer, a musician, I like sharing stories, I have an amazing partner for life, I’m a dog dad, and try my best to be a good human and help others.
I am asking for help with upcoming medical bills, physical therapy, and costs for custom shoe orthotics. I know the costs will be greater than my stated goal; I’m just asking for a little relief. I recently had life-changing foot surgery. The surgery I had is called a right foot transmetatarsal amputation, which is basically the amputation of all the toes on my right foot. Those who know me know that I had this same surgery on my left foot a few years ago, and that resolved the issues with that foot and expect the same results this time, so now, I have no toes on either foot.
This all began on July 4th 2016 when I stepped on a rusty nail that had 3 rare bacteria on it. That led to Osteomyelitis, which is an inflammation of bone caused by infection. The infections can reach bones by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue. (I am lucky it was just my feet; it could have been anywhere in my body.) This leads to painful ulcers and open wounds on my foot.
This has been my 29th surgery, so as you can guess, the last 8 years have been very expensive and a lot of time in the hospital. We believe this will resolve the issues with my right foot with no further surgeries required, which will give me a better quality of life and no more hospital stays. I am currently in a transitional care unit until I get the stitches out and then will go home shortly after and continue with intense Physical Therapy to regain my strength and balance.
I know times are tough for many and I would like to say thank you to everyone who can donate and to everyone for the positive encouragement along this long journey which has helped keep me keep me positive and upbeat.
Thanks so much,
All my love,
Gary
