Hi, my name is Gary Timmons.
Health Condition: Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Three years ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. As someone who has always cherished athleticism and the thrill of competition, this diagnosis felt like a heavy blow. MS has presented me with significant challenges, impacting my mobility and making traditional athletic pursuits nearly impossible. Yet, in the face of adversity, I am determined to channel my passion for sports into a new dream: competing in the Paralympics.
Athletics has been a significant part of my identity, and the thought of racing again fuels my spirit. I have set my sights on competing in road races and possibly triathlons, envisioning the exhilarating rush of crossing the finish line. However, the journey ahead is not without obstacles. The costs associated with adaptive racing wheelchairs are daunting, and as I navigate life on disability, my financial resources are limited.
Despite these challenges, I refuse to give up on my dreams. I am actively seeking support and opportunities to secure the equipment I need to compete. I believe that with the right resources and community backing, I can overcome these hurdles and return to the sport I love.
