We all have the power to make a difference! We as a family (sons Chris, Craig and daughter Dawn) are fundraising monies to help with medical bill assistance for our Father Garry Stevens.

For those who may not know, our Father Garry Stevens underwent heart mitral valve replacement in 2019. Since then he never felt 100% and just a few months ago had to endure another mitral valve replacement surgery, since the “new valve” e was not functioning properly. Still not feeling any healthier and many more doctor appointments and being persistent with his doctors he underwent yet another surgery to expand the second mitral valve to increase blood flow. We all hoped and prayed that this last surgery was going to be the magic valve but sadly after the week he went downhill. He was having a hard time breathing and Andrea (his wife) rushed him to the hospital where he remained for 2 weeks and underwent numerous tests, biopsies which showed water in and around his heart and lungs and damage to his liver and kidneys due to the harsh medications he was on.

Many discussions and with mixed emotions from all sides by dad, doctors and family they sent him home to recover and get stronger for his 4th heart surgery. This upcoming open heart surgery will indeed happen! He will be going for a follow-up on July 25th, and likely they will be setting up a surgery dated then to take out the 2 damaged valves and scar tissue and replace it all with a new and improved mitral valve. He will need months of rehabilitation and remain off work once his surgery is scheduled.

As you can imagine, medical bills have been piling up and he has been unable to work his business Pico Wheel Service (as the sole breadwinner for his family-wife Andrea and mother Gladys who will be 102 in February) where he owns and competed all work by himself with no one to help him out. His business is the prime source for collectors and international competitors wanting nothing but the best from his specialty custom wheel repair, restoration, of wire wheels and other specialty services to include custom paint jobs. His Grandfather opened this family owned and operated business in 1920 in Los Angeles, California and he moved to North Hollywood in the 80’s and due to his failing health conditions from numerous back surgeries, and prostate cancer (which he Beat-Yeah!) we convinced him to move his shop to Camarillo over 10 years ago. Even in the hospital he was answering calls and speaking with his many clients who are located all over the world and they all said take care Garry will wait for however long it takes, yes folks he is THAT GOOD at what he does!

Needless to say this has put a strain on our parents. We are starting this GOFundMe in hope to help alleviate some of the hospital, rehabilitation bills and loss of income for the past month and months to come since he will be undoubtedly be heading back into surgery. His life has been turned upside down and things may never be the same as that had been. Our family is thankful to God for family and extended family, friends and church and are humbled by the outpouring of love for our dad. We put our faith in the Man upstairs and pray that through this next heart surgery it will help him live his best life by gaining independence and his health back.

We are asking for prayers specifically and donations to support our dad financially so he can focus on his recovery and relieve some of the stress and hardship that financial pressure is putting on him. He is definitely going to need our help in the coming months.
