I’m Garield M. Hohman, and I’m asking for help as I face prostate cancer treatment and robotic surgery to remove the cancer. I receive care connected to Fairfax Hospital, and this has been an overwhelming time for me. I am disabled, I live alone, and I rely on SSDI income, so trying to manage my health while also keeping up with everyday needs has become very difficult. My health challenges did not start recently. On April 15, 2007, I was diagnosed with PML. I was treated through the VA Hospital, saw Dr. Robert Holman and neurologist Dr. Roesbaum, and after brain lesion testing and MRI work through NIH with Dr. Razio, I was told I had limited time to live. I have carried that history with me for many years, and about two years ago I was also diagnosed with prostate cancer.
As I prepare for surgery, hospital care, and recovery, I need support with urgent daily expenses that continue month after month while I am unable to keep up on SSDI alone. The funds raised will help me with transportation and car-related costs so I can keep getting to appointments, apartment expenses as I try to stay housed while living alone, and a dental problem after my front teeth bridge came loose. Predictable support would help me keep up with these ongoing needs while I focus on treatment and healing. If you are able, recurring donations would mean a lot because these expenses do not stop after one appointment or one hospital stay. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and would help right away.
If you can help, any donation or share would mean so much to me. Your kindness and support would make a real difference as I face surgery, recovery, and the daily challenges that come with serious illness. Thank you for standing with me during this difficult time.
