On Monday, I noticed Garfield, my cat, was spending an unusually long time in the litter box—about ten minutes. When he finally finished, he was walking funny and dripping pee on the floor. I immediately rushed him to the emergency vet, where they determined he was blocked and unable to pee. The vet drained and unblocked him, placed a urinary catheter, and prescribed medications and a change of diet. The next day, Garfield had to return due to straining, and he spent the night at the vet receiving fluids every hour and being closely monitored. He seemed to be progressing and was able to pee by himself, so I brought him home for one night. Unfortunately, he was blocked again soon after. Both my emergency vet and primary veterinarian recommended that Garfield have a PU surgery—a procedure that removes the penis and significantly decreases the chances of future blockages, though the risk is never zero. Garfield is only five years old and has a bonded brother at home who loves him dearly. They mean the world to me, and I can’t imagine how I would have gotten through the last few years without them. Now, it’s my turn to help Garfield. I’ve taken out loans and maxed out credit cards to cover his care. I’m no stranger to working hard for my money, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to pay off these loans and be more prepared if another emergency happens. The funds raised will help cover Garfield’s follow-up care and support the loans I’ve taken out for his treatment. This will ensure he gets the best chance at recovery and stays with his brother and me. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out of your day to read about me and my Garfield. We are eternally thankful to anyone who thinks or prays for us, and to anyone who is fortunate enough to help us a little bit financially, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart and pray that abundance follows you through life.
