Gandalf needs surgery to replace his bladder device.

Hello everyone. My name is Sharlene. Im Gandalfs Mum.

Im appealing for help to raise urgent funds for him to return to have surgery and Veterinary care at Cambridge Veterinary Hospital.

Gandalfs story:

This boy was a baby in China, dumped and unwanted. 24 hours from slaughter by the barbaric meat trader.

Due to being captive for so long his bladder doesnt work.

Gandalf needed urgent investigations to determine what was wrong with him. Previously, I set up a gofund to raise much needed funds to find out what was wrong and to save his life.

Investigations were carried out and with Specialists from around the country, the only solution was to install a Cystostomy tube. A ground breaking new trial, which proved to be a success so a second surgery was needed to fit a miniONE bladder device. Which was safer and more practical. Smaller and discreet.

Every 2 hrs I empty his bladder using enteral feeding tubes and syringes. He has to wear a pad and bellyband indoors due to the constant leak from his penis. He has been infection free for over 13 months due to the efficacy of the pioneering surgery and constant management and nursing cares I give him.

In order for the continuity of his successful survival his miniONE needs replacing now as it's slowly degrading due to its constant use.

Cambridge Veterinary Hospital are awaiting instruction as to when he can go in to be admitted, have tests, checks with a view to his surgery. It is costly but he will continue to enjoy his life pain-free and infection free.

If the bladder device isn't replaced it will degrade more, be infective and could have a determential effect on his survival. Bladder infections would reoccure and in the worst case scenario, sepsis and the prospect of the fitting collapsing which will be life threatening.

He came into our lives and has brought so much joy.

We love him wholeheartedly.
