Help Gage Walk: Support His Life-Changing Surgery

Donation protected
My grandson Gage is thirteen years old.

He has lived his entire life with cerebral palsy. He got his first wheelchair when he was 2 years old. He has gone through numerous series of injections, casting, and braces. He has endured so much pain to get to the point where he can just walk with crutches. He has been given the opportunity of a lifetime at Shriners Hospital in Sacramento to go through a very complicated surgery. It is actually three different surgeries, all in one, and it will take at least ten hours in the operating room. When he gets out of surgery, he will have to stay in the hospital for at least two more weeks and his mother will be by his side the entire time. When he comes home, it will be in a cast from his waist to his toes, with a wheelchair. He will have to stay home from school during this and for 6 weeks he will be housebound. Then after that, he starts intense physical therapy for a very extended period of time. The hope is that when this is all done, he will be able to walk normally.

Gage lives in Trinity County, CA. He is 4 hours away from Shriners where the surgery will be done.

There are 5 steps into his house which will require a 20-30 ft ramp with a landing at the top to give him access to the house.

About Gage's family. His dad is a wildland firefighter and serves his community as a volunteer firefighter. Mom spends the majority of her time caring for the 4 kids still at home. But she picks up odd jobs as a Karaoke Host and an Airbnb house cleaner.

This deserving family could certainly use your help with the cost of materials for the ramp and the funding for the numerous trips they will need to make in the coming months.

UPDATE!
Gage went through a 13 hrs surgery with flying colors!
The majority of the lumber was donated with the help of the Lewiston Moose and a discount from Trinity Lumber Co. Leaving a balance of about a $1000, which we were able to pay off to, get that completed. Then a crew of volunteers of a couple of contractors and members of the Trinity Center and Coffee Creek Volunteer Fire Departments completed the ramp in about four days. They did a remarkable job. Now we still have the trips to Shriner's that need to be done every couple of months, sometimes would be long-term stay for additional physical therapies that can't be done through our regular physical therapists, but most of the time they see him in Weaverville, which is about 45 minutes from the house.

Thank you very much everyone who have contributed. I will leave this up a little bit longer because of the additional appointments that have to be made down at Shriner's. You've all made a tremendous impact in this young man's life
