Help Gage attend National Chess Tourn. in NJ
My name is Karen Halford, and I am the Booneville Jr & Sr High School Chess
Sponsor. Gage, one of my junior high students, has been selected to represent
the state of Arkansas at the Barber National Tournament for Middle School
Students in New Jersey on July 31-August 3.
I just received an email a couple of days ago about his selection. With such short
notice of this nomination, we do not have a lot of opportunities to organize and
complete a fundraiser. So I decided to create this Go Fund Me account to reach
out to anyone that would be willing to make a donation for this fantastic
opportunity for Gage.
For those who may not know Gage, let me share a few things about him. This fall Gage will be a 9th grader at Booneville Junior High School. He is a straight A
student, plays in the BHS Marching Band, and is a member of the 2021 junior
high football team. Gage is an amazing chess player and would be an excellent
representative for our community and state if we can raise the funds for this
trip.
Booneville School District has graciously allowed $500 for Gage and $500 for me to chaperone him to this event. I have estimated that it will cost approximately $4000 for the trip. So we are needing to raise $3000 in four weeks. Donations made to this fundraiser will be used for the cost of flights, hotel rooms, tournament fees, food, and ground transportation.
Your donation will be used for Gage and I to attend this prestigious 4-day tournament and allow him to have the chance of a lifetime to play on the National level by competing with other state champions. Gage and I would greatly appreciate any support you can give to his dream of playing in this National Chess Tournament by making it become a reality.
