Hello! My name is Gaby and I am starting a GoFundMe to help raise funds for my eye surgery. Anyone who knows me can tell you ever since I was little I have had extremely poor vision. After a car accident I was in last year, I realized life was too short to not live to the fullest; I decided to take matters into my own hands and start the process of getting the surgery. When the accident happened, I was out of town, my glasses broke, and I did not have a backup pair to help me. Without my glasses, I cannot drive or even walk comfortably in an unfamiliar area.

After waiting for years, I booked a consultation. Unfortunately, when the LASIK surgeon told me I was not a suitable candidate, I felt devastated and truly hopeless. However, I was informed there is another surgery available. Due to the extremely high prescription I have, I need to have an advanced version of the surgery called Implantable Collamer Lens Surgery (ICL). During this procedure, a permanent contact will be implanted in my eye above the iris. As this advanced surgery is not covered by insurance, the cost for this procedure is extremely large for me to handle on my own. Even though it may be nerve-wracking, I am so excited for this opportunity to enhance my sight and to have a freedom I’ve never had before.
