Help Gaby Secure Housing and Graduate

My name is Gaby Poplawski, and I am in my fourth year at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. I am a low-income independent student on need-based aid at my institution. Aside from this aid, I have no contact with or financial help from any of my family, and I am getting myself through college on my own. I have been classified as "at risk of homelessness" on my FAFSA since 2022.

I am asking for help due to a recent change in my housing and finances that has left me trapped in a year-long lease for an apartment I cannot afford on my own. I signed this lease based on an agreement to receive financial support for this housing, but the person supporting me has suddenly and irreversibly withdrawn from the agreement at a point in time where I cannot break my lease without significant difficulty and high fees.

This is my last year at Pomona. I just need to have a place to live and get through this year so I can graduate. I plan to use the funds here to help with housing costs, in addition to working multiple jobs on top of my classes throughout the year. I will likely have to take out loans to cover my rent. The funds raised here would lessen my debt significantly and also make it more realistic for me to get accommodations for my mental health– I was advised to adopt an emotional support animal at the end of last year, but I could only do this if I had enough funds to ensure proper quality of life for the animal. Since taking out loans is an option, I will not state that the money from this fundraiser is my only way to survive this, but if you are able to donate anything at all and/or share this link, I would greatly appreciate it. I am endlessly grateful for the community support I have had so far and for the people on campus and beyond who have encouraged me to set up this GoFundMe.
