My sister went into the hospital for what we thought was a simple kidney stone. Instead, she suffered a tear in her liver and is now on life support. The doctors don’t believe she will make it out of this, and our family is devastated.

She lives with my niece, who is now carrying the weight of everything. My niece has been working exhausting double shifts at the nursing home just to try and keep up, while also spending every moment she can at the hospital by her mom’s side. She’s torn between working to keep a roof over their heads and being present for what could be her mom’s final days.

I know my sister would probably kill me for putting this out there, but I can’t just sit back and watch my niece struggle alone. I created this fundraiser so that every dollar raised will go directly to my niece or my mom to help cover rent and essential expenses. This won’t fix everything, but it will give my niece some breathing room to grieve, to be with her mom, and to figure out the next steps without the crushing fear of losing their home on top of everything else.
