Just recently, this family received the miracle they had been praying for: their son Gabriel is finally in remission after battling metastatic liver cancer. For a long time, their entire world revolved around keeping their child alive. There were countless hospital visits, treatments, sleepless nights, and the constant fear no parent should ever have to face — the fear of losing their child. Through it all, they stayed strong for him. Today, their son is finally beginning to heal and regain his childhood after the fight of his life. But just as the worst of the medical battle began to lift, another devastating crisis struck. After 20 years of dedicated work, the father David recently lost his job. Soon after, the family was given last minute notice that they must move out of their home (due to the owner selling) with very little time to find somewhere else to go. They have just two weeks to find somewhere to live. Years of focusing on medical care and supporting their child drained their savings. Now this family, who has already fought so hard just to stay together, is facing food insecurity and the very real possibility of homelessness. Additionally, Tania just had emergency surgery and is trying to recover in the midst of all this stress. No family that has endured what they have should have to face this alone. Their son has already beaten cancer. Now his family needs help rebuilding the stability and safety that every child deserves. Funds raised will help this family with emergency housing while they search for a permanent home, food and basic necessities, utility bills and transportation, and giving David time to secure new employment after losing his job. This family has spent years fighting for their child’s life. Now they need a community to stand beside them as they try to rebuild their own.
