Hi, my name is Destiny Jackson. I’m Gabrielle Gonzalez’s sister, and I created this GoFundMe on her behalf.

My sister is in desperate need of legal help as she faces an extremely difficult separation from her husband. Over the past 8–9 months, she has endured emotional, mental, and financial distress as she tries to protect her children and secure a fair outcome.

A little background: Gabrielle married very young. At 19, she was with a man nearly 10 years older and quickly became a mom. From the start, she stepped into the role of raising not only her son and daughter, but also two stepdaughters whose biological mother had lost custody. Later, she even took in her biological sister. By her early 20s, she was raising five children on her own shoulders.

Over the years, Gabrielle faced emotional, financial, and verbal abuse not just from her husband, but from parts of his family and the biological mother of her stepdaughters. Instead of protecting her, her husband stood by while she endured constant harassment and manipulation.

After eight years together, he walked away, leaving her alone with five children. Since then, he has used finances and assets as weapons taking away the family car, cutting her off financially until court ordered support, and refusing to help beyond the bare minimum. Even worse, he is now threatening to take away her stepdaughter Kiyah, the little girl Gabrielle has raised and loved as her own.

Gabrielle needs a lawyer to fight for her rights, her divorce, her stability, and most importantly, to keep Kiyah with her. The cost of legal representation is $5,000, and she cannot do this alone.
