My name is Gabrielle, and with the help of my daughter Victoria, I’m hoping to return to the beekeeping I love. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with kidney failure and degenerative arthritis, which forced me to give up my bees. Now, I’m on dialysis and my mobility is limited, but my passion for beekeeping hasn’t faded. My husband has been at my side through it all, and Victoria has always been a huge encouragement as I work toward keeping my dream alive.
Beekeeping isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s a lifeline. My daughter says I light up when I talk about bees, and my family jokes that if I’m not talking about bees, I’m probably asleep. From watching them fly in and out of the hive (a scene that always reminds me of planes arriving and departing at O’Hare Airport) to bottling up jars of golden honey to give to others, the bees have always been my way to connect, give back, and find peace.
Because I live on a limited income due to disability, I’m seeking support to purchase the use of handicap-accessible AZ beehives, bees, and the equipment needed to safely tend to them. Also, materials to build a protective bee house, ensuring the hives stay safe year-round. With your help, I can once again enjoy the therapeutic work of caring for bees and sharing honey with friends, neighbors, and family. Any support or even sharing my story would mean the world to me. Thank you and God Bless!
