I'd like you to meet Gabriella, my niece. This 27 years-young, strong, beautiful woman and devoted mom has just been diagnosed with a rare cancer. Gabby had been to doctors and gynecology that dismissed her symptoms and said she was 'fine', though she knew something was very wrong. After finally receiving a referral to oncology, she was indeed not fine at all. A biopsy was ordered and she was diagnosed with the rare Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma in her uterus. This is the nightmare we all hope and pray will never happen, and never expect. I (we) are reaching out to the community, family, and friends to help Garbriella with the difficult journey she now faces.
Gabriella is a wonderful, loving mom with an 8 year-old daughter who needs her, and a family that adores her. Gabby is a fighter - a warrior with a deeply compassionate soul. She is generous, gentle and kind, and was among the first to reach out when my own daughter was hit by a drunk driver and needed help. Gabby has a brilliant sense of humor and a quick wit; she is an utter joy to be around. She is also a dedicated advocate for those trying to get and stay sober, and she works as a receptionist for an out-patient treatment center - a job she loves dearly. She is a uniquely talented artist, and loves to paint. Gabby loves the outdoors and all that goes with it - swimming, camping, hiking and enjoying the beauty of nature - alongside a recent addition to their family, a sweet dog named Opey. I honestly have never known a more beautiful person, in every sense of the word, than Gabby.
With her mother's blessing, I have set up this gofundme page to help Gabby cover costs she is incurring as she fights for her life. Gabby is still awaiting some further tests and scans, but will be starting chemotherapy the end of this month. This will be a rough road and an arduous journey, and there will be expenses that her insurance will not cover. We must do all that we can to make sure that Gabby gets the care and support that she needs to win this battle. Please help us with whatever you can spare, anything and everything counts.
