Help Gabrieli Makhatadze Represent Canada at the World Judo Championships!

We’re rallying our community to support Gabrieli Makhatadze, a remarkably talented 15-year-old judoka who has officially qualified to represent Canada at the 2025 Cadet World Judo Championships in Bulgaria!

Born in Georgia and raised with a fierce dedication to sport, Gabrieli has already made waves in Canadian judo. At the 2025 Canadian National Championships, he claimed two gold medals — not only in his own age division, but also in the highly competitive U18 category. His talent, discipline, and heart are undeniable.

Now, he faces his biggest challenge yet: the World Championships — an opportunity of a lifetime.

But getting there requires more than just skill and determination. Gabrieli must undergo intense preparation, including international training and competitions:

• End of July: Competing at the US Open in Florida, followed by an elite training camp

• Early August: A 5-day national training camp in Montreal

• Mid-August: A 2-week international training camp in Spain, capped with a major European tournament

• End of August: Off to Bulgaria to represent Canada on the world stage

Estimated cost for travel, lodging, and training: $5,000 CAD — a major financial burden for any family.

Gabrieli will be the youngest Canadian athlete at this year’s World Championships. Every dollar raised will help cover his travel, training, and competition fees, allowing him to focus on what he does best: representing our country with strength, honor, and courage.
