Hi everyone!
My name is Gabriela Angel Hustad, and I am a third-year George Washington University student. I left my home at the age of 17 to join the United World Colleges movement in India, and in 2019 I moved to Washington, DC, to start my career in International Relations.
In the Fall of 2020, my stepfather passed away from COVID-19. I had to take a Leave of Absence mid-semester to take care of my mother and take the lead of my home as the only daughter. I also needed to give myself some time to grieve the loss of my loved one.
As a result of canceling my semester, I am a couple of credits behind, so I must take classes during the summer to catch -up and graduate on time.
Nonetheless, my scholarship at GW does not cover Summer courses, and I would need to pay for this fee out of pocket.
As a financially independent student, I have worked two jobs to sustain myself through my university experience. However, my jobs are not enough to cover these very high fees, and I happen to find myself in a situation where I need your help to graduate on time. If I don't catch up and complete my credits this summer, I will not be able to graduate since my scholarship only extends for the four years of my career (not any extra semesters).
Today, I invite you to help a very dedicated student achieve her goals and dreams by donating whatever amount you can, which would greatly help cover my Summer Course credits.
Thank you so much!
