Hello my name is Chaplain Kory and one of my amazing chaplains, in my CPE program with WSHOchaplaincy.org, is dealing with a lot right now. His name is Gabriel. Gabriel ives in Kenya and is trying to care for his mother after an accident she had.
The medical bills are pilling up. I asked him if I could try a GoFundMe to help his family. I asked him to write a few paragraphs about the situation. Gabriel is so humble not wanting to burden others. He is a father of a big family and is trying to do his best being there for his family. Thanks for helping out if you can.
My name is Gabriel Aura Mirah and I live in Nairobi, Kenya. Over the past few months, my family has been going through an extremely difficult time. My mother, Matilda Atieno Mirah, aged 70, was seriously injured in an accident at our village compound while tying cows.
One of the cows suddenly surrounded her, and the rope tightened around her left leg, pressing it against the tree she was tying the cow to, resulting in a severe fracture. I first took her to a hospital in Kakamega County, then to Eldoret Referral Hospital, and later to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after specialists advised further treatment.
To afford this, I had to sell some of our cows. At KNH, doctors discovered she also suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney failure, and ulcers, and she now requires weekly medical reviews and dialysis.
Due to the seriousness of her condition, I brought my mother to live with me in Nairobi and have been taking care of her full-time. The cost of medication, dialysis, hospital visits, and daily care has been overwhelming.
We have sold almost everything and sought help everywhere possible to pay for the expenses, but the medical bills continue to pile up. On doctors’ advice, I later transferred her to Mukumu Hospital, where she is currently admitted in the ICU.
At this point, I do not know how we are going to pay these bigger bills coming next week from all this care she needs now. We are trusting in God. Any help financial assistance, prayers, or sharing this appeal will make a meaningful difference. Thank you so much for standing with us during this difficult time.
