Help Gabriel Beat Leukemia

Dear Friends and Family,

I am hosting this GoFund me account for my brother Gabriel Garcia. At the end of July, Gabe was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The past couple of weeks have been terrifying and emotionally draining for all of the people who love and adore Gabe. At the age of 43, we never expected to hear this gut wrenching diagnosis. Gabe has a long road ahead. He recently began chemotherapy and will remain hospitalized at Sloan Kettering in Manhattan for at least another month. Afterwards, he will continue treatment for an indefinite number of months as an outpatient. There is a lot of uncertainty about the length of time it will take for Gabe to go into remission. As the school year approaches, Renee, Gabe's wife, has made the very difficult decision to take a leave of absence from teaching, as well as to keep their three children, Luca, Marco and Briella home from school, in order to keep Gabe safe while he fights the cancer. There has been an overwhelming response from friends and family asking for ways to help. As we try to navigate our way through this difficult time, we decided to create this GoFund Me account in an attempt to help with medical expenses, meal plans, transportation and all the things that will not be covered by insurance, in addition to the bills that continue to accumulate while both Gabe and Renee are not able to work. Your contributions will help Gabe on his road to recovery and help lighten the stress for him, Renee and the children. Please feel free to share this on your personal social media accounts.
