Help Gabria Marx beat brain cancer!

Donation protected

Hi friends,

Gabria needs your help. She is  in the hospital for emergency brain cancer surgery yesterday, and is currently in recovery.  The doctors estimate the recovery process could take up to two years.

My name is William, a co-worker and good friend with her parents Drew and Daidri Marx.  I received a call this morning regarding their situation and wanted to fill you in on whats going on.

Gabria is an amazing little girl  filled with character, sarcasm, and wit way beyond her years. She is a comedian and rocket scientist all rolled into one tiny 6 year old package. She is hilarious and an absolute joy to be around.

Over the summer break, Gabria had been experiencing some issues with naseua, headaches, and her eye turning in uncontrollably (she has been trying to get in with an Opthmologist). Last Sunday, while riding her bike with her dad, Gabria had to stop because she was seeing two sidewalks and couldn't keep her balance. The next morning her parents took her to the emergency room because she vomited after waking up. The CT scan of her brain showed a 4 centimeter mass in her cerebellum, the part of your brain that controls muscle coordination, balance, and movement. As of right now the physicians taking care of her think it is a Medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor that requires surgery, and potentially months to years of treatment and therapy.

As of today, she has undergone a roughly 10 hour surgery to remove the tumor and place a shunt. Depending on what todays MRI and a scheduled lumbar puncture show, treatment could last months or even years.   She and her family have a long road ahead of them. As of now there is talk of 6 to 24 months of radiation, chemotherapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Over the course of Gabria's recovery there will be major medical bills and ample time missed from work in order to do whatever it takes for this girl to beat this.

We've all heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child. There is never a time where this statement couldn’t be more true. This child needs a village. This family needs a village. We all have the opportunity to be that village.

I write this today to ask you to contribute what you can. If you can give money, give money. If you can write words of encouragement then write words of encouragement. If you can forward this to everyone you know then please, forward away! If you can do all the above then great! Every financial gift helps to cover the mountain of medical expenses and other costs incurred during this time.

When I first met Gabria, she was quite the character who's spirit filled the room. I was so excited to meet her for the first time, she was one month old.  When I held her she looked at me and started screaming at the top of her lungs. In between the hugs and sarcastic jokes its been that way ever since.

Thank you in advance for all of your generous donations and time. May you all have the gift of meeting this little girl someday. I promise, your life will be better because of it.
