Help Gabi and Luke get through this nightmare

Donation protected
We would like to thank everyone for their support and donations.
Today, Gabi met with the funeral director and planned Luke’s send off. A very difficult day. With your support she was able to do this. Every cent raised was used for his funeral costs. Which is a relief for Gabi and the kids.
She has so much love and support around her.

Tonight Luke grew his wings and left the love of his life and children…
all funds raised Gabi will be using for his funeral arrangements.
Thank you to everyone that has sent messages, shared and donated.
we are totally broken and will be surrounding Gabi and his children with lots of love and support.

Progress day 8:
Luke had surgery yesterday and it was rough but he got through. The team spoke to Gabi this morning. His heart is going well. They took out a major tube from his groin and changed the ecmo machine. He is now on lung support and dialysis. The cut where the tube was they are not happy with and he may be rushed back to surgery to fix that. He is still having issues with his right leg and at this stage amputation of part of his leg is predicted. Life will never be the same.
Keep fighting buddy…. We are here for this journey with you.

Hi, my name is Mel, I am Gabi’s mum this is our story or nightmare…
On December 20 Luke flew home from work in WA and was not well but had a cough. After a long stint in extreme heat he thought he was just run down. On December 21, our family headed up to Tuncurry for our first Christmas away. This was Ivy’s 5th birthday.
It ended up with Luke in hospital to be sent home from Manning Base with influenza: get some sun, Panadol and Nurofen and honey in water was what he was prescribed. 24 hours later he was placed into an induced coma. Told he had staph and his body had gone into septic shock, he was then placed on dialysis to save his kidneys. After a cardiac arrest he was finally airlifted to RPA where he remains fighting for his life. His heart, lungs and kidneys are being supported by machines. He is having difficulty with circulation of blood and oxygen to his extremities.
This will be a long fight and he will never be the same again.
Many of our friends have asked to set this up to help them out. Gabi has to stay away from Ivy down at RPA as well as travel costs and parking.
Luke will never return to his workplace so income will stop for him.
Family and friends are rallying but as we all know, no one plans for things like this to happen to a 28 year old and especially at Christmas…
While drs aren’t giving up neither will we. Please help…
