My name is Gabe Veissid and for my Bar Mitzvah volunteer project I will be raising money for Westport Animal Shelter Advocates (WASA). I would like to focus my efforts on raising funds for medical care bills for the dogs, in particular. WASA is a completely
volunteer based organization that does not get any funding from the town and they are always in need of donations for the animals’ veterinary costs. They take in homeless dogs and try to get their medical needs met as much as possible before finding them their forever homes.
Recently, I met with Julie Loparo of WASA at Westport Animal Control and she introduced us to some of the dogs in her care. Mr butters is about twelve years old and has some heart and teeth problems. He will require an echocardiogram ($1,100) as well as dental work (estimated between 2 and $3,000). I also met with Nora, who is about seven months old and was found abandoned in Westport. She will need basic veterinary care (about $1,200) like vaccinations and need to be spayed. These are just two examples of dogs that WASA is helping to get placed in loving homes.
If you would like to help with my bar mitzvah project and give these dogs, and others like them, the funds they require to help them get the healthcare they need, please donate to my gofundme link below. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
