Help Gabbie FIGHT Cancer...Again
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Jessica Hayes. I am a very close friend of the Stetzner family. Miranda (Gabbie’s mom) and I go way back to our Air National Guard days (2006) and have remained close since. When I say this family is fantastic, I mean, they would give the shirt off their backs fantastic. Chris and Miranda both sacrificed for our country while serving actively in the Air Force. Still, their daughter suffers from a much more unfair battle.
On November 7th, 2017, the Stetzner family received the devastating news that their daughter's growth was malignant. Gabriela's form of cancer is called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma is a very aggressive and destructive type of cancer that Gabbie endured over a year of both chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The amount of stress and financial burden it put on the family was profound, and they never asked for help. Instead, Miranda started a fundraiser, #GabbieStrong. She designed #GabbieStrong shirts to raise funds to help support her family.
In April 2019, Gabbie's doctors reported her condition as in remission. Regrettably, this was short-lived, as she began having severe back pain and tingling in her legs in November 2019. They received news on January 5th, 2020, that the CT scans show new masses located in the pelvic region, in her spine, and the lymph nodes near one of her kidneys. Biopsy results confirmed rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) again. Such news was understandably devastating to Gabbie and her family.
As of right now, the treatment plan isn’t entirely clear. Gabriela will be headed to the hospital for a positron emission tomography (PET) scan and have her port surgically reinserted to prepare for another round of chemotherapy. The Stetzner’s chose a specialist in Boston because they have an excellent pediatric clinic that specializes in rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS).
With all of the financial impact from previous treatments and now facing future treatments, this fundraising is essential to their economic and emotional well being. We want Chris and Miranda to be able to focus on comforting Gabbie, and Gabbie to focus on staying strong and getting better! Concentrating on positivity and support is difficult if they are stressed and overwhelmed by frequent travel from Montana to Boston for treatment, hospital bills, hotel expenses, food, and gas. Furthermore, Chris and Miranda have two other children - Alexandria (9) and Atticus (5), that they need to care and provide for.
Please help us get the word out, share this fundraiser #GabbieStrong, and please donate, even if it's $5. The money generated by this fundraiser will be 100% for the support of Gabbie. On behalf of the Stetzner family, I appreciate all of your generosity!
