Furrari is my three-year-old emotional support cat and one of the most important relationships in my life. She's been with me through some of my darkest moments, and watching her suffer while I feel powerless to help her is devastating.
For over a year, Furrari has been struggling with chronic GI issues that have never been properly diagnosed. Without the funds for diagnostics, her care has been largely trial and error: different medications, supplements, and prescription diets, hoping something would stick. Some things helped a little. Nothing fixed it. Now, at a dead end, we can't keep guessing.
Her condition has been worsening lately: she's straining to poop, passing blood almost every time she poops, developing food aversions, and losing weight. These aren't just uncomfortable symptoms. Left untreated, chronic constipation in cats can progress to megacolon, a condition where the colon permanently loses its ability to contract. Her vet has already flagged this as a concern, and her prognosis was described as "guarded to poor" without meaningful improvement.
She has her x-ray and ultrasound scheduled for April 23rd. These diagnostics are the first real step toward understanding what's actually wrong, but depending on what they find, she may need a referral to internal medicine and further specialized care. The costs add up fast, and I'm not in a position to cover them on my own right now. Over the past year, I’ve already spent so much on her care while juggling my studies and working extra shifts at my campus job. Now, as I'm currently unemployed, it’s even more challenging to manage these expenses and provide for her needs.
If you can contribute even a small amount, or simply share her story, it genuinely helps. Furrari has been a lifeline for me through some of my hardest times. Now it's my turn to show up for her.
Thank you for reading and for any support you can offer.
