Help Fundraise Latino Film "Siempre Tuya"
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Leslie Alvarado and I’m the writer/director for my upcoming romance short film, “Siempre Tuya”.
This story follows Nailea, a 20-year-old Mexican American, as she contemplates telling one of her close friends that she likes him. Even though Nailea was the kind of girl who was content with romanticizing her life with other guys but never telling them how she felt, that soon changes when Mateo enters her life. The way he spoke, his smile, personality, she loved every part of it, and getting to know him made it easier for her to fall in love with him.
Having grown up loving movies like “She’s the Man”, “A Cinderella Story”, and “Sydney White,” where the girl ends up with the guy she likes, I never realized until I was older that the protagonists were almost always White. Rarely did I see someone like me on-screen sharing their stories without being depicted through racist stereotypes and ideologies. Consequently, with my upcoming film, I want to give Latinos the chance to tell narratives they otherwise could not tell before! I want the world to know that we are more than what the film industry perceives us to be.
As this is a student production, my crew and I need your help to make this film possible! Donating to this GoFundMe will help supply the project with location permits, equipment rentals, transportation for equipment/actors/crew, catering, and craft services.
We could not be more excited to get started, and appreciate your help!
